Downtown Jo’s joined the program today with some awesome sandwich meals for St. David’s Medical Center tonight. Daily Juice has entered the building! They have joined the program today delivering three different dinner boxes with popcorn, fruit and a cookie. Hospital staff had their choice of the 3rd Street Wrap, Barton Greek Salad or the Fire Kale Salad. Healthy and light, but packed with all the good stuff our staff needs to fight another day. Cary, the owner, also just offered to tell his entire list donate to our program. We like that kind of partner! Wholy Bagel just joined the program to spice up our boxed lunches with their authentic New York-style BAGEL SANDWICHES! Ham & Swiss, Turkey & Cheddar or Hummus with Veggies on fresh cooked bagels. Makes me want to go get one myself.

Onboarded Sway for their first delivery. Beef fried rice, veggie fried rice, Pad thai ki and their famous Son in law. I need to go buy myself 10 Son in Laws and just stock them in my freezer. Our hospital staff were eating good tonight!

Our friends at Modern Market came back into the rotation for our new location. We dropped some delicious Smokey Chicken and Lemongrass Pork and Buddha Bowls for the St. David’s Round Rock team.

Two new things to report with this next 40 boxed lunch meals delivered to St. David’s Medical Center. One, we onboarded a new restaurant partner @austinjava. Club wraps, club sandwiches, BLTs or veggie wraps were on the menu today. Two, we connected with another business hammered by COVID-19, Capital City Limousine of Austin. Mohamad Kouzayha, Founder & CEO, offered to donate his driver’s time and fleet for ATXHospitalmeals as he loves the mission and wants to keep his team working through this pandemic in whatever way he can. You normally see CCLA outside the five star hotels downtown, but they jumped at the chance to take delivery logistics off our plates. Eager to see where this partnership goes as we scale the program. We never envisioned our meals being delivered by such a professional team and getting white glove service!

ATXHospitalmeals has added its 2nd hospital into the rotation. St. David’s Round Rock, one of the COVID designated hospitals, was next on the list to deliver some delicious bowls from Chilantro. Four staffers came out to fill their cart with our 40 meal delivery and greeted us with so much love. We can’t wait to get back there on Wednesday and help keep them focused on fighting this enemy.

Onboarded Steiner Ranch Steakhouse tonight as a new restaurant partner and delivered their Express meals to St. David’s Medical Center. Thanks as well to John/Yvonne who joined our volunteer driver team and made sure those delicious hot meals made it our front line workers after a long weekend.

We know we are ATXHospitalmeals, but one of supporters, Selena, who has been helping us navigate the hospital system asked if we would deliver to ambulances as well. Our first response, was sure, we would love to get some meals to the paramedics as they are ABSOLUTELY on the front lines of this pandemic. But, we didn’t know where or how we could deliver effectively to them. Then Selena broke down the system here in Austin-Travis country. By delivering to six command stations, we could effectively hit all the EMTs with some fresh meals over the course of the day. Today, we did our first delivery of Texas Honey Ham boxed lunches to four of the six. Don’t worry if you are based out of the last two, we are coming to you tomorrow after our hospital delivery. Bao’d Up, known best for amazing quick-serve steamed buns, served up four different types of noodle bowls for us tonight. Since the hospital asked us not to deliver foods unless they are eaten with utensils, we steered away from their signature buns, but went with Red Braised Beef or Tofu Spicy Dan Dan Noodles and Fried Chicken or Tofu Cold Sesame Noodles. As seen on Shark Tank and delivered to a hospital near you, tonight was Soy-Glazed Chicken, Ribeye Beef Bulgogi or Marinated Tofu bowls. Chilantro brought their inspired Korean and BBQ mix flavors to re-charge and re-fuel our hospital workers tonight. Did our first of many taco deliveries and based on the excitement when we unloaded and the after pics, it looks like it was a success. Taco Deli is streamlined for TAKEOUT at the Rosedale location. You drive up, text in your parking spot and they come to your car, gloved up and packaged everything really well for us. We served four different types of tacos so all taste profiles were covered — Steak, Chicken, Pork and Veggie.

Despite some nasty weather the Cedro Scratch Italian dinner made its way to St. David’s Medical Center tonight! Some donors had contributed to them already, so they donated over half the meals we delivered tonight. We will definitely head back there soon and return the favor by ordering again.

What a professional organization from outreach, to giving us a great discount, to packaging and prep to meet our exact requirements. We are definitely coming back to you soon on our schedule! After our first social media post, restaurants started reaching out offering us some amazing meal options to keep our heroes fed. Surprised the wife and I didn’t grab a couple of those meals for ourselves as it smelled so good in our car. 35 more meals delivered!

After we read a Medium article about the #SFHospitalmeals program, who “open-sourced” their entire program, we decided we could do this pretty quickly on our end. In less than two days we had the site built, had initial batch of donations/pledges, found our first hospital, and got a couple restaurant conversations flowing. Things happened pretty quickly and we were making a lot of decisions on the fly…..
